On winning the online design proposal in October 2019, Concept AW was hired to submit further design proposal for a unique Tudor house/office extension. Our proposal was chosen due to it sensitive approach to the new extension while respecting the unique Tudor aesthetic. Instead of introducing an unrelated rectangular form as per other competition entries, Concept AW was to marry the existing building with a similar form that of the existing Tudor roof. Although ambitious, the new sloped form set very comfortably alongside the existing building.

Through the design developments phase the initial design form was modified to a simpler design due to the Clients cost restrictions but still retained a powerful presence on the corner site. Finally the material palette that was proposed is modern and linear to compliment the sloped form with linear glazed units evenly distributed along the façade aligning with roof lights above.
