Starting in November 2019 Concept AW was hired to develop a design and submit a planning application for an existing house and site in Los Gallos, Chiclana. The Client was keen to retain the existing 1970 building aesthetic while modernising the kitchen, living and bedroom spaces. The new rear extension would encompass a new single car garage with a tool room and toilet facilities, all of which merging with the new extended open plan kitchen and living room. We were keen to retain the new and old building aesthetic uniquely identifiable, while preserving a similar aesthetic in materiality choice. Therefore the new extensions are of a flat roof construction merging with the traditional tiled sloped roofs of the existing dwelling.

Additionally the site has ample space to cater for a new swimming pool with a generous sized outhouse for a pump house, shower and bathroom facilities. The final touch was to bring the entire house to meet current technical regulations by replacing the existing windows throughout with new double glazed thermally broken frames, and additionally, reconstructing new floor slabs with the water proofing membrane and insulation elements.
